Position Details

  • Job Title: Project Manager
  • Duty Station: CUAMM Office, Mbweni – Zanzibar
  • Contract Duration: 12 Months (including 3 months probation period)
  • Expected Start Date: 1 July 2026

Job Summary

The Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities to ensure the successful achievement of project objectives. The role requires strong leadership, project management, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills while ensuring compliance with donor requirements, government regulations, and organizational policies.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that project activities are delivered efficiently and effectively, ultimately benefiting target communities and improving healthcare outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Implementation

  • Coordinate and manage project activities on a daily basis.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and work plans.
  • Monitor project progress and track milestones against established targets.
  • Identify risks and implement solutions to keep project activities on schedule.
  • Ensure timely execution of project deliverables.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports for management, donors, and headquarters.
  • Establish monitoring and data collection systems to measure project performance.
  • Ensure timely submission of required project reports.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures.
  • Ensure efficient, transparent, and accountable use of project resources.
  • Maintain compliance with donor regulations and financial procedures.
  • Support cost monitoring and budget control activities.

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Supervise project staff and promote teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with government institutions, health authorities, and development partners.
  • Organize meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on agreed action points.

Strategic Development

  • Represent the organization in regional and national coordination forums.
  • Identify potential funding opportunities and future project initiatives.
  • Collaborate with headquarters on project development and strategic planning activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Health Systems Management, or a related health field.
  • A Master’s Degree in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, or related disciplines will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience managing health-related projects.
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and administrative processes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Fluency in both English and Swahili.
  • Knowledge of the Italian language will be considered an added advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications.
  • Valid driving licence with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
  • Flexibility to work in multicultural and multinational environments.
