Jerusalem Mbezi Beach Lutheran Secondary School, under the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) – Eastern and Coastal Diocese, is inviting applications from qualified, experienced, and visionary education leaders for the position of Head of School.
The school is located in Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam, and is committed to academic excellence, Christian values, and holistic student development. The successful candidate will report to the School Board and work closely with the Parish Council through the School Committee.
Position Overview
The Head of School will provide strategic leadership in academics, administration, discipline, and spiritual development. The role requires a strong leader capable of maintaining high academic standards while promoting moral and Christian growth among students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Supervise teaching and learning for Forms I–IV
- Ensure effective implementation of the NECTA curriculum
- Monitor student academic performance and examinations
- Coordinate internal and national examinations
- Oversee lesson planning, schemes of work, and academic reporting
School Administration
- Manage daily school operations and resources
- Supervise teaching and non-teaching staff
- Ensure discipline, safety, and student welfare
- Prepare strategic and operational school development plans
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education regulations
Staff Development
- Mentor and evaluate teachers and support staff
- Organize staff training and professional development programs
- Promote teamwork and a positive working environment
- Participate in staff recruitment and orientation
Student Affairs
- Promote academic, moral, and spiritual development
- Strengthen guidance and counselling services
- Manage student discipline fairly and professionally
- Support co-curricular activities including sports and clubs
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong communication with parents and guardians
- Collaborate with church and community stakeholders
- Represent the school in educational forums and events
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- Master’s Degree is an added advantage
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in education sector
- At least 5 years in a school leadership position
- Registered with Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian secondary education curriculum (NECTA)

- Ability to manage staff, students, and school systems effectively
