Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

i. Providing all hospital-based dental and oral medical services related to oral and dental diseases;

ii. Providing and supervising oral and dental health education;

iii. Improving oral and dental health services within the assigned work area and community;

iv. Performing dental fillings/restoration, surgeries, dentures fabrication, and orthodontic procedures;

v. Supervising staff under his/her responsibility;

vi. Investigating, monitoring, and preventing disease outbreaks;

vii. Teaching students in health training institutions within the assigned work area;

viii. Designing and conducting research and disseminating findings;

ix. Developing and preparing strategies to improve the quality of dental health services;

x. Preparing plans and budget estimates for oral and dental health services;

xi. Participating in reviewing and improving health services;

xii. Providing outreach services within the assigned district/region;

xiii. Maintaining health statistics and using them as directed according to MTUHA guidelines;

xiv. Planning and evaluating oral and dental health services within the work area;

xv. Conducting research in various oral and dental health areas;

xvi. Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor that are related to the candidate’s education, experience, and skills.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor Degree in Dental Surgery from a recognized Government institution, must have completed Internship, and must be registered with the Tanganyika Medical Council.

General Conditions

  1. All applicants must be citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania and must not be above 45 years of age. However, for positions under Military Institutions:
    • Applicants for non-degree positions must not exceed 25 years of age.
    • Applicants for degree positions must not exceed 30 years of age.

  3. All applicants must attach a birth certificate certified by a Lawyer/Advocate.

    • Professional certificates from respective boards.
  6. Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results, and Form IV and Form VI result slips will not be accepted.
  7. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates are verified and approved by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTVET). Applicants for cadres requiring GPA who studied outside Tanzania must attach a GPA conversion certificate from TCU.
  8. Applicants who have retired from the Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have approval from the Chief Secretary.
  9. Submission of false information or forged qualifications will lead to legal action.
  10. The deadline for submitting job applications is 26 June 2026.
