The National Service of Tanzania (Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa – JKT) has officially announced voluntary recruitment opportunities for the 2026 training intake, according to a statement issued by the Chief of JKT, Major General Rajabu Mabele. The opportunity is open to youth from both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar who are willing to undergo national service training on a voluntary basis.
Application and Selection Process
The application and selection process for joining the 2026 JKT voluntary training will be coordinated through the Regional and District Commissioners’ Offices in the areas where applicants reside. Interested youth are advised to follow instructions provided by their respective regional or district offices to ensure proper submission of their applications.
Youth with ICT and Technical Qualifications Encouraged to Apply
JKT has particularly encouraged youth with the following academic and professional qualifications to apply in large numbers:
- Diploma in Information Technology
- Diploma in Business Information Systems
- Diploma in Computer Science
- Diploma in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Diploma in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology
- Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Information Security Engineering
In addition, youth with talents in various sports disciplines are also highly encouraged to apply through their respective regions.
Interview and Reporting Dates
- Interviews for voluntary JKT training will begin on 26 January 2026 across all regions of Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
- Candidates who are successfully selected will be required to report to JKT training camps between 27 February and 4 March 2026.
Applicants are advised to strictly adhere to these dates to avoid missing this opportunity.
JKT Does Not Guarantee Employment
The National Service would like to inform all successful applicants that JKT does not provide employment, nor does it facilitate job placements in:
- Government institutions
- Defense and security organs
- Non-governmental organizations
Instead, JKT focuses on providing practical training aimed at empowering youth with:
- Self-employment skills
- Life skills
- Work discipline
- Patriotism and national unity

Building Patriotism and National Unity
Major General Rajabu Mabele has invited all eligible youth who are selected to join their fellow Tanzanians in building patriotism, national unity, resilience, work skills, life skills, and readiness to serve and develop their nation through participation in JKT voluntary training.
