About the Role
Neema International is seeking a qualified, experienced, and committed Human Resources (HR) Officer to oversee and support all staff and teachers across its two schools: Uru Community Pre and Primary School and Uru Community Secondary School.
The HR Officer will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, child-centered, supportive, and well-managed working environment, aligned with Neema International’s mission of empowering children through education.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage recruitment, selection, onboarding, and exit processes for teaching and non-teaching staff
- Ensure all recruitment follows strict child-safeguarding standards, including background checks, safeguarding declarations, and enforcement of codes of conduct
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date staff records and personnel files
- Oversee staff attendance, leave management and compliance with job descriptions
- Coordinate staff performance management, appraisals, and evaluations in collaboration with school leadership
- Identify performance gaps and support corrective, disciplinary, or improvement processes when required
- Support staff welfare, wellbeing, conflict resolution, and grievance handling
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, organizational policies, and safeguarding regulation
- Develop, review, and enforce HR policies and procedures
- Support staff professional development, training coordination, and capacity building
- Promote a positive work culture grounded in respect, accountability, teamwork, and child protection
- Serve as a key advisor to management on HR-related matters and organizational best practices
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field from a recognized university
- Minimum of two (2) years or more proven experience working in an HR role
- Strong understanding of labor laws, HR best practices, and child safeguarding principles
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
