The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) is a government institution responsible for overseeing all matters related to atomic energy in the United Republic of Tanzania. Established under the Atomic Energy Act No. 7 of 2003 (Cap. 188), TAEC is mandated to regulate and supervise the use of atomic energy and nuclear technology. The commission plays a key role in ensuring the protection of workers, patients, the public, and the environment from the harmful effects of both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. In addition, TAEC is responsible for coordinating and promoting the transfer of nuclear technology to support national development.
