Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Geology
Advance Diploma or Certificate in Surveying
Certificate, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree depending on the role
Form Four Education for selected technical positions
VETA Trade Test Grade One in Mechanical Fitting/Turning or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) for mechanical roles
Manual Transmission Driving Skills required for operator positions.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 2 years working experience in the mining industry or process operations
Experience in pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and plant maintenance
Experience in shutdown activities and plant maintenance is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Health, and Environment
Drive zero-harm initiatives and promote safety awareness
Identify and mitigate hazards proactively
Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned areas
Support safety inspections and risk assessments using required tools
Comply with national and international standards such as NEMC, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and related regulations
Maintain zero tolerance for alcohol and drug abuse
Plant and Equipment Maintenance
Execute maintenance tasks at workshops, plant areas, and shutdown operations
Repair, rebuild, and maintain mechanical components such as pumps, gearboxes, mixers, couplings, and hydraulic systems
Perform alignment and inspection of mechanical systems
Support installation and commissioning of large equipment such as mill gearboxes and compressors
Conduct routine inspections and quarterly maintenance activities
Ensure quality execution of assigned tasks
Budget and Cost Control
Manage consumables and PPE usage efficiently
Take responsibility for tools and equipment
Ensure timely completion of tasks within budget constraints
Propose improvement ideas to enhance operational efficiency
Training and Compliance
Ensure required permits and training certifications are up to date
Comply with company policies and operational standards
Operational Excellence
Maintain high-quality work standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Practice effective time management and discipline
Promote teamwork and leadership within assigned areas.
