
Position: Timekeeper – Construction Site
Location: Zanzibar
Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract
About the Role
Iris Tanzania are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Timekeeper to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately recording daily attendance, tracking work hours, monitoring machinery movement, and maintaining labor records to ensure smooth site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Record daily attendance for all site workers and staff.
- Maintain accurate timesheets and submit reports to management.
- Monitor overtime, leave, and shift schedules.
- Coordinate with supervisors to verify work hours and manpower allocation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
- Conduct initial follow-up inspections to establish the type and number of machinery/equipment on site, monitor usage, and identify defects or breakdowns if any.
- Document inspection findings and prepare reports for management.
Qualifications & Skills
- BSc in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics (fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Previous experience as a timekeeper or clerk in a similar role (construction experience is an advantage).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic data entry.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
