JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Mlimba District Council has received a project for Food Systems, Land Use, and Restoration (FOLUR). This project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the principal supervisor of this project is the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. In implementing this project, the Executive Director of Mlimba District Council announces to all citizens of Tanzania who meet the qualifications to apply for Contract Employment positions as listed below:
1.0 FIELD EXTENSION OFFICER (2 POSITIONS)
1.1. APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
i. Must have a Form Four or Form Six education with a Bachelor's degree in the fields of Agricultural development, Natural Resource Management, Land use Management, Environmental studies, Community Development, and Social Sciences.
ii. Must have at least Three (3) years of experience in planning and implementation, community mobilization and engagement within Tanzania.
iii. Priority will be given to those with experience in the execution of Natural Resource Management projects implemented by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or the Government.
iv. Must have experience in gender mainstream and women's empowerment, especially in natural resource management projects.
v. Must have skills in leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.
vi. Must have experience working with traditional leaders and the community, especially marginalized groups, and collaborating with multi-sectorial teams as well as governmental officials.
vii. Must have interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at District and community levels.
viii. Must have proficiency in speaking and writing in both English and Kiswahili.
ix. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to ride a motorbike.
1.2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Assisting in coordinating Meetings and Seminars for the community and other stakeholders.
ii. Implement initiatives to strengthen project communities through the sustainable resource uses of forests, water and land resources.
iii. Collaborating closely with the community, traditional leaders, and District and Regional offices and other Government Departments to increase synergy and support in the implementation of activities.
iv. Working with the Landscape Coordinator to prepare methodologies and implementation plans for delivering project results and activities in close collaboration with technical experts.
v. Working with District Extension Officers and implementation partners to build awareness of project processes and technical requirements related to project work plans.
vi. Recording field activities data and provide inputs for the semi-annual and annual reports on project progress and impact in partnership with the Landscape Coordinator.
vii. Reporting on the status of project activities to support the Results Framework and Work Plan Tracking for the WWF-GEF project at the end of each project year.
viii. Provide inputs on the preparation of the Project Work Plan and participate in project management meetings and annual reflection workshops to enable adaptive management of the project.
ix. Facilitating logistical support and technical inputs for project monitoring and evaluation.
x. Engaging the community in handling complaints and being the reliable person for submitting complaints from the community.
xi. Performing other duties as assigned by the Landscape Coordinator.
1.3. SALARY SCALE
The salary scale is according to the procedures set by the project supervisors.
1.4. EMPLOYMENT TERMS
The terms of this employment are a One (1) year Contract Employment and it can be renewed for up to Four (4) years.
2.0 KEY CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE APPLICANT
i. The applicant must be a citizen of Tanzania, aged not less than Eighteen (18) years and not more than Forty-Five (45) years.
ii. The applicant must attach a birth certificate.
iii. The applicant must attach his/her Curriculum Vitae (CV).
iv. The application letter must be handwritten.
v. The applicant must attach a National Identification Card or have a National Identification Number (NIDA).
vi. All applications must be accompanied by copies of Academic Certificates, Form Four (Form IV) or Form Four and Six (Form IV and Form VI) Certificates, birth certificate, and Two (2) colored passport size photos attached to the application letter with the name written on the back.
vii. All applicants who have studied outside the country must ensure their certificates have been verified by the relevant Authorities (TCU and NACTE) and the verification report must be attached to the application.
viii. Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statement of Results, and Result Slips WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
ix. Submission of fraudulent information or qualifications will lead to legal action against the individuals concerned.
The deadline for receiving application letters is 10 October 2025 at 9:30 AM in the afternoon.
