EU Delegation to Kenya Announces Finance and Contracts Officer Vacancy
The European Union (EU) Delegation to Kenya has opened applications for the position of Finance and Contracts Officer within its Regional Partnerships Unit in Nairobi.
The role is offered on a two-year fixed-term contract, subject to a six-month probation period, and is open to Kenyan nationals and residents holding a valid work permit. The successful candidate will work full-time under a flexible schedule of 37.5 hours per week and will receive a competitive salary package starting from KES 511,049 per month, along with medical insurance and a supplementary pension scheme under applicable conditions.
The Finance and Contracts Officer will support the management of EU-funded programmes by overseeing financial operations, contract management, procurement processes, audits, reporting, and compliance with EU financial regulations. The position also involves providing financial guidance to colleagues, supporting tender and grant procedures, monitoring project budgets, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data and documentation.
Applicants must hold a university degree of at least three years in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Law, or a related field. Candidates without a university degree may qualify if they possess a relevant post-secondary diploma and at least ten years of professional experience in financial management, procurement, or audit-related work.
In addition, candidates must have a minimum of five years of post-graduate experience in financial management, procurement, or auditing, preferably within international organisations, diplomatic missions, or international NGOs implementing development cooperation projects in conflict, post-conflict, crisis, or emergency settings such as South Sudan or Sudan.
Experience in managing EU-funded projects, conducting calls for tenders and proposals, and using SAP-based accounting systems will be considered an advantage.
