TZS 426.5 Billion Disbursed to 135,240 Students
The Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) has today, Friday, October 24, 2025, announced the first phase of loan and scholarship allocations to a total of 135,240 students. This group includes the following categories:
i. 40,952 undergraduate students and 5,342 diploma students have been allocated loans amounting to TZS 152 billion.
ii. 615 beneficiaries of the Samia Scholarship have been awarded grants totaling TZS 3.3 billion.
iii. 88,331 continuing students, who successfully passed their previous academic year examinations, have been allocated loans worth TZS 271.2 billion.
HESLB stated that it will continue to issue additional rounds of loan and scholarship allocations as it receives admission confirmations for first-year students and examination results for continuing students.
Furthermore, the Loans Board has reminded all loan and scholarship applicants to regularly check the progress of their applications through the Student’s Individual Permanent Account (SIPA) while the processes of verification and allocation are still ongoing.
This announcement reflects the government’s continued commitment to supporting access to higher education through financial aid, ensuring that capable and deserving Tanzanian students are not left behind due to financial challenges.
