HR World Limited, on behalf of its client in the automotive and power generation industry, is recruiting Mechanical & Electrical Operators (On-site) to join its operations team in Tanga, Tanzania. This is a technical role focused on the safe operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of generator systems to ensure reliable and efficient power supply.

Job Description
The selected candidates will be responsible for operating and monitoring generator systems while ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all power generation equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections of generators and related equipment
- Safely start, operate, and shut down generator sets following procedures
- Monitor generator performance and maintain accurate operational logs
- Manage generator load to ensure efficiency and stability
- Monitor alarms, faults, and system malfunctions and report to Site Engineers
- Respond to generator trips, alarms, and shutdown events
- Track SMU readings and support preventive maintenance planning
- Record operational parameters and maintain clear communication logs
- Monitor diesel/CFO fuel systems and LV/MV electrical systems
- Support preventive maintenance and equipment lifecycle tracking
- Assist in troubleshooting and basic repairs of equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety, operational, and environmental standards
- Prepare and maintain operational reports
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Requirements for 18 New Vacancies at HR World 2026
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience working with large Caterpillar generators or in power generation environments (24/7 operations)
- Strong hands-on experience with Caterpillar generator systems
- Knowledge of generator start-up and shutdown procedures
- Understanding of engine parameters, alarms, load sharing, and synchronization
- Familiarity with diesel/CFO fuel systems and LV/MV electrical systems
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance schedules and basic repairs
- Strong attention to detail and operational alertness
- Good written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment
