Speaking to the media today, October 11, 2025, in Dodoma, the Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office, Public Service Management, Mr. Juma Mkomi, said that these jobs cover various sectors including Education, Health, Agriculture, Engineering, and other sectors.
Permanent Secretary Mkomi explained that in the financial year 2024/25, the Government issued a permit for 45,000 new job positions for various institutions, and its implementation began on April 29, 2025. Following the issuance of that permit, the recruitment process has been conducted, and so far, 30,863 positions have been filled and the respective individuals have been assigned to their workplaces. Furthermore, interviews for 6,701 positions have been completed, and the successful candidates will be assigned to their workplaces within October 2025, while the filling of 7,436 positions will be completed in November 2025, and those interviewed will be assigned that same month.
He added that in the financial year 2025/26, the Government approved 41,500 new job positions for various institutions, including 12,176 positions for teachers and 10,280 positions in the health sector, and their implementation begins immediately.
Following the issuance of these permits, Permanent Secretary Mkomi directed the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat to begin the process of filling the 2025/26 positions and to complete the process for all 2024/25 positions.
Mr. Mkomi also instructed all employers to cooperate with the Recruitment Secretariat to ensure that the goal of filling the job vacancies is achieved.
“To ensure that the Recruitment Secretariat effectively performs this duty, I direct employers to cooperate. In addition, I direct employers to whom the Recruitment Secretariat has delegated authority to conduct recruitment processes for specific cadres to immediately conduct these interviews to fill the approved positions in accordance with the laws, regulations, and procedures governing public service recruitment,” emphasized Permanent Secretary Mkomi.
To reduce interview costs and ensure the process is conducted timely, Mr. Mkomi directed the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat to conduct interviews in every region of Mainland Tanzania and at designated centers in Zanzibar to provide applicants from respective areas with the opportunity to apply and be interviewed.
He also said that applicants who pass the interviews but are not immediately assigned to positions will be placed in a database and will continue to be assigned to jobs as new positions become available.
He added that those applicants will be assigned to institutions with available positions anywhere in the country and that appointment letters for successful candidates will be available in the “Ajira Portal System” through their respective accounts.
Permanent Secretary Mkomi further added that the Government will continue to issue employment permits based on the needs of various sectors to ensure quality services for citizens.
